BioSkills Lab NYC

The Orthopaedic Foundation is devoted to empowering our youth to be scientific investigators laying the groundwork for a life-long love of learning and preparing them to be part of the next generation of scientists and medical professionals.

The Orthopaedic Foundation’s “Doctor for A Day” program engages students to be scientific investigators learning real life techniques to repair broken bones. The students learn how to bolt, pin together, and insert supportive plates into broken forearms. The students use actual surgical drills, plates, and screws to mend broken bones in realistic synthetic forearms at our Bio Skills laboratory in NYC. Through this learning process each student has a hands-on experience and an opportunity to work with orthopaedic surgeons who volunteer their time to supervise the lab.
